4 stars (Very Good) Stirring stuff, completely beguiling. It must have been just the ticket in 1944. The depiction of basic training is surprisingly kinetic, and the sinking troopship sequence had me on the edge of my seat. Wonderful cast. ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) The early scenes depicting the degeneration from civilian to soldier are the best and are entirely believable. One advantage of making the film during WWII was the authenticity of the props and wardrobe. ~Tubbs
