Aroview: Highly-anticipated movie version of the groundbreaking series SEX AND THE CITY, meeting up with the Big Apple's four hottest gal pals Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte four years on from the end of Series 6.
The girls have aged gracefully but are no less confused by the fickle world of men in Manhattan, now faced with more grown up issues like dwindling sex lives, serious careers, children and outside temptations. The side plot of Samantha in LA with Smith seems slightly redundant and some of the supporting characters, namely Stanford and Anthony, are given very little screen time with the script suffering from this lack of comic tension relief at key moments. The stand out performance is, once again, Cynthia Nixon in her moving portrayal of Miranda with Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's PA adding a refreshing young energy to the cast.
This movie version works best when it reverts to the essence of the series; our four leading ladies facing love and life together in fabulous labels and killer shoes, an irresistible formula.

3 stars (Good Enough) Slightly older and wiser, the four have moved on with their lives with the main themes predictably being problems in love, friendship, doing the right thing, and taking chances. Good, but not great, unless you're a die-hard fan. ~GenXGirl
2 stars (Good Try) Its hard to make characters depicting the well off interesting beyond a few minutes - the minimum would be a strong script. I don't know how much they paid the humping dog but I got sick of the sight of it. My comedy tastes are higher than that. ~Tubbs
