L Change the World

Aroview: Sugar-rushing spinoff of the Japanese sci-fi DEATH NOTE films, from the director of THE RING, picking up with detective 'L' attempting to stop a group of environmental fundamentalists trying to cull the world's population with a deadly man-made virus.

With 23 days to live after signing his life away, 'L' mostly devotes his time to taking care of two kids - one a virus-carrier running from the clutches of the cops and the terrorists. Not likely to change anyone's world anytime soon, but for candy-fuelled kicks you could do much worse than this actioner, with Matsuyama providing quite the m'emo'rable character amidst all the silliness and schlocky bad guys.
