Walker, The
Aroview: Woody Harrelson plays against type as a sharp-witted blueblood socialite who tries to solve the mystery of a murder he's framed for after covering up for the victim's lover.
Something of a companion piece to Schrader's 'lonely soul in the mire' character studies AN AMERICAN GIGOLO and LIGHT SLEEPER, this lets fly with some delicious dialogue from a cracker cast of support players, but muddles its critique of the paranoiac post 9/11 Bush administration with some lazy conspiracy hawking and an unwillingness to delve deeply into hidden motivations. A plodding, yet not insubstantial thriller likely to please fans of the cast and director.
