Aroview: Accepted as the first film of the French New Wave, this Claude Chabrol drama tells the story of a man returning to his hometown only to discover his friend is now a depressive alcoholic in desperate need of his help.

Technically and stylistically this landmark, low-budget film is visually delectable and remains a fine example of character-driven drama at its observational best.
