Aroview: Terrific adaptation of the Peter Morgan stageplay providing a dramatic retelling of the story behind the famous interviews between ex-President Nixon and British talkshow host David Frost.
Having a field day with a surprisingly juicy premise, Morgan's screenplay strikes a delicate balance of entertainment and genuine insight as it exposes the tactical battle that went on behind and before the cameras started rolling. David is David and Nixon his Goliath, and an intriguing chemistry emanates from these very unlikely opponents, while tension is heightened further by the precariousness of the whole enterprise. Frank Langella's Oscar-nominated performance gives the film its backbone and dir. Ron Howard again proves the consummate Hollywood professional, his even-handedness paying dividends are he shades in both the flaws and virtues of both men.

4 stars (Very Good) Riveting account of Frost, an ambitious low-profile TV interviewer, taking huge risks with his finances and reputation, in order to get disgraced former US President Nixon in front of a camera to confess to his crimes. Compelling viewing. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) Great stuff. Is Langella's Nixon more layered and sympathetic - human - than the man himself? Anyway, it's a stunning performance. My only quibble: it's a shame the wonderful Rebecca Hall didn't get more to do. Riveting indeed. ~HiFi
2 stars (Good Try) It takes a while to get the two together in this dramatisation mainly because I believe there are too many spare characters filling screen time. The interview segments are not too bad but overall its worth just watching Frank Langella. ~Tubbs
