Revolutionary Road
Aroview: The director of AMERICAN BEAUTY directs his real-life wife, Kate Winslet, in another tale of middle-class suburban neurosis and the restless struggle with conformity, this time set in starch-white 1950's Connecticut.
Making the most of two substantial acting roles, this places TITANIC's Winslet/DiCaprio star coupling in a less romantic reality as a mature but troubled married couple who dare to yearn for happiness and prosperity outside the 'picket fence'. Based on the 60's novel by Richard Yates, the period setting harnesses retrospective insight but as a solid treatise about the institute of marriage, its themes will more than resonate with contemporary audiences.
