Aroview: Set in the early stages of the conflict in Vietnam, Lancaster plays a Major who, with a small band of untested soldiers, is ordered to hold a small outpost of no significance with predictably tragic results.

Well made on a by-all-accounts modest budget, this earnest, unremittingly bleak film earned some considerable acclaim when initially released though it may seem overly familiar now.
