Lodger, The

Aroview: Remake of the Hitchcock original takes Jack the Ripper out of Whitechapel and places him on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip, pursued by grizzled detective Chandler Manning (Molina).

Of course he is a 'copycat' killer, fitting for a film that tries so hard to evoke the suspense and atmosphere of the original, despite the total inadequacy of the Los Angeles setting - who knew LA was always raining and shrouded in mist? A convoluted, confused narrative doesn't help matters, and ultimately the only originality on display here is - predictably - the addition of blood n guts.
