French Film
Aroview: Affable British rom-com about a jaded journalist who is forced to reassess his views on romance after interviewing a French filmmaker-cum-self-appointed 'expert on love' (played by ex-football star, Cantona).
Harbouring a particularly British sense of good-natured cynicism, Hugh Bonneville (think a slight dumpier, grumpier Colin Firth) embodies a certain brand of Brit-male, but he (and the film) are oddly more endearing when he is whingeing than when he/it tries to force the romantic chemistry in the later stretches. Writer Aschlin Ditta (SCENES OF A SEXUAL NATURE) perhaps digs too much at British stereotypes and not enough at their French counterparts, especially given the title.
