Right At Your Door
Aroview: Lean and paranoid 'what-if?' thriller sees a group of bombs detonate in downtown LA, enveloping the whole city in a toxic cloud.
Made on a shoestring, the limitations are obvious but well exploited by dir. Gorak, who keeps his focus on a couple trapped in their living room with their radio serving as their only source of external stimulation. Although some of the ultra-theatrical dialogue is at odds with this otherwise very naturalistic film, this succeeds by introducing a slow-burning intimacy between the audience and the two actors who both offer unnervingly raw performances.
