Le Gai Savoir
Aroview: Challenging offering from dir. Godard puts two actors on a soundstage and allows them to dwell on ideologies, concepts and complex understandings of the status quo, intercut with a montage of images and dynamic soundscapes.
With this departure from conventional narrative Godard has dismissed representational cinema for something much more challenging, and certainly, as he himself narrates much of the thing, more didactic. View it as a cinematic experiment - and a new direction for Godard - rather than a manifesto, and the whole thing goes down easier.
