Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Aroview: Amiable everyman Kevin James (KING OF QUEENS) plays a security guard who is forced to protect his mall against a bunch of crooks who take it under siege.

Although James has comic chops (and comic girth), the broad, slapstick material he has to work with here is aimed at a younger generation that swallows any nuance. Regardless, there are moments of emotional truth when the camera is turned towards Blart's tragic home life, and James can flesh out Blart as a three-dimensional human rather than walking target for a smug scriptwriter.
