A Bunch of Amateurs
Aroview: Affable "backstage" comedy focused on a faded Hollywood action hero (Reynolds) who thinks he's won the prestige role of a lifetime - King Lear at Stratford-upon-Avon - only to discover he's actually performing with an amateur-dramatic society in the sleepy village of Stratford St John, Suffolk.
Fans of modest, warm-hearted British comedy will enjoy this - the Queen allegedly chose this as her Christmas day viewing, and she was apparently 'amused'. Reynolds' stiff, awkward performance suggests more than a bit of life imitating art.
