Boy A
Aroview: Celebrated British drama following a young man's struggle to adjust to everyday life in Manchester after spending most of his teenagehood in prison.
Rock-solidly acted, with Garfield excellent in the lead, shouldered by veteran Peter Mullan's dyed-in-the-wool credibility and decency - a surrogate for the film's humanist social politics. While a few moral arguments are glossed over a bit lightly, it fully sustains a satisfying tension on the premise that misfortune can beset these highly sympathetic characters at any given moment.
