Aroview: The simple yet effective story of a two-bit boxer's quest for self-respect and fame was a feat paralleled by the film's writer and star, Sylvester Stallone, whose American Dream was realised when his pet project won Best Picture at the Oscars. The same formula was repeated four times more, without quite the same glory.

4 stars (Very Good) The original Rocky hits hard with the honest tale of a simple man seeking more from life than he was dealt. Sly's own character shines through in his fight to make a name for himself in the industry, and in the end he deserves to have done so. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) classic ~Wyatt Earp
3 stars (Good Enough) The early scenes are very good and are the best, particularly those shot on the working class streets of Philadelphia and those depicting the seedy side of boxing. ~Tubbs
