Hard Pill

Aroview: Provocative comedy-drama dares to posit a scenario in which a little pill can induce heterosexuality and when a depressed gay man wonders if he'd perhaps be happier straight, he offers himself up for science.

Daring indie dials down the sci-fi but still uses the central conceit (and every crazed bigot's fantasy) to do some fairly strident but digestible philosophising. Skillfully handled debut by dir. Baumgartner largely succeeds by its strong focus on character in the face of biological and societal pressures.
