Book Of Eli, The
Aroview: Post-apocalyptic fable with attitude sees Denzel Washington play a hard-bitten prophet who must fight his way across America in order to protect a sacred book.
A po-faced tale soaked in a grimy (and familiar) post-apocalyptic aesthetic, the film swings between genres with a heavy-hand. Yet it works best when it indulges us with stylish action sequences, which Washington leads with badass aplomb, and if one can ignore the dodgy evangelical agenda, it's an ultimately entertaining watch.

3 stars (Good Enough) A bleak world with some seriously bad bad dudes from Mad Max meets Fallout, this tale has a couple of unusual twists and some stylish action sequences, although the Biblical premise and ultimate resolution aren't particularly satisfying. ~Tom H
