Experiment, The

Aroview: Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker chew the scenery in this slick, if largely diminished remake of the 2001 German thriller, itself a dramatisation of the notorious Stanford prison experiment.

The actors play up the battle of wits between insubordinate inmate and ultra-authoritarian prison guard with gusto, though the guts of the original - its allusions to Nazi Germany and Reality TV - have been spilled in favour of a more simplistic view of man's propensity for violence.
