Aroview: An eye-watering, willfully transgressive tale of a petty crook (Depardieu) who enters into a seemingly conventional romance with a high-class Dominatrix (Ogier) – with occasional lashings of S&M on the side.

Breakout film for dir. Schroeder was an infamous Euro export at the time, though its retro arthouse appeal will no doubt be overlooked for its more ‘painful’ qualities, of which a young Gerard Depardieu bravely, if tenderly endures.
