Aroview: Seventh and penultimate film in the H.K. Rowling-penned franchise now finds Harry and pals Ron and Hermione on the lam as Lord Voldemort extends his tyranny over England while plotting the boy wizard’s murder.

With the epic tale now drawing to a close, this is a noticably darker and prolonged (adapting the final novel, the filmmakers have split it into two parts), if still urgent fantasy sweep that will have Potterphiles gripping their seats. Faithful to a tee, our only complaint is the lack of any real payoff – in its place, a lot of teenage angst and navel-gazing, it has to be said – and the agonsing wait for the concluding installment!

3 stars (Good Enough) The two boys struggle in their performances whilst frustratingly a terrific adult cast is underused. Splendid production values as per normal. ~Tubbs
