Hesher
Aroview: Cruel comedy as black as the tee-shirt of its stringy-haired, metal-loving, borderline-sociopath titular character, who becomes an unlikely saviour for a grieving family.
Hard to swallow for all but the most forgiving fans of 'edgy' indie film, Joseph Gordon-Levitt achieves what seems to be a bid to inhabit one of the all time screen 'assholes', but who unfortunately seems beamed in from some other reality entirely to the other characters in the film. Which may or may not be the point. Performance by young teen Devin Brochu is the sole bright spot in this otherwise irredeemable mess. Co-scripted by David Michod, dir. of ANIMAL KINGDOM.
