Aroview: Sam Peckinpah's controversial 1971 film is bleached, but certainly not bettered in this nasty remake that goes for broke in the violence stakes, seemingly at the expense of any subtext or meaning. James Marsden and Kate Bosworth play the central couple whose move to the countryside is upset by a group of leering, toothy rednecks.
