Aroview: A top-drawer time-traveling actioner, following a hired gun whose job to assassinate targets transported from the future is complicated when he's required to end the life of his future self.
Though it falls slightly shy of the ground-breakers in the genre, this breaks through its generic trappings in a more grounded second half that showcases spooky child actor Pierce Gagnon, and a fiercely maternal side of Emily Blunt. The film's best conceit, however, is the prosthetic effect applied to lead Joseph Gordon-Levitt to resemble his older self, played by Bruce Willis. Several steps up in scope for the writer-director of the indie hit, BRICK.

4 stars (Very Good) A dark and unsettling multilayered sci. fi. flick. Violent?, yes and a little cliched -- but in the end there is redemption. Streets ahead of most of the time travel genre. Quality production,plenty of background detail. A memorable film. ~Anon
4 stars (Very Good) One of my favourite films of 2012, Looper is exciting and thought provoking - if flawed for time-travel experts, although warranting a second viewing for those who aren't too fussy with their time-continuum. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) Unfocused, unimaginative. I found myself waiting for the next interesting face or bit of tech to materialise. Improves slightly when Blunt and the kid appear, but overall I wasn't convinced, or absorbed. ~HiFi
