Hemingway & Gellhorn

Aroview: Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman spar in this highly mannered HBO biopic of famed war correspondent Martha Gellhorn's rocky romance with literary giant Ernest Hemingway.

Very much an actor's showcase, the film similarly engages in a larger than life portrait of war time passions (a period that inspired 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'), though perhaps is unfairly weighted in Hemingway's favour; Gellhorn a far more interesting artistic figure sadly overshadowed in the scheme of things.
