Foxcatcher
“It is a gripping film: horrible, scary and desperately sad. ”~Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
Aroview: A serious, fact-based drama that examines the tragedy that struck wrestling team Foxcatcher led by eccentric multimillionaire sponsor John E. du Pont as they trained for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
It's a slow-burn character study that is short on narrative event but resonant in themes of ambition, patriotism and self-worth, with Steve Carell drained of his comic persona and physicality under layers of authentic make-up, and Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo wholly convincing as the siblings devoted to their sport.
