Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter
“both celebrates the escapist power of personal fantasies and bears witness to their dangerous extremes. It's the rare case of a story that's inspirational and devastating at once. ”~Eric Kohn, Indiewire
Aroview: A strikingly composed and balanced tale of a jaded Japanese woman whose obsession with the film FARGO leads her on an earnest quest to retrieve the suitcase of money that was famously buried in the Minnesota snow by Steve Buscemi's character in the film.
Filmed on location in equal parts Tokyo and Minnesota, the film is a graceful paean to the cinema of Jim Jarmusch and the Coen Brothers but has the maturity to not be constrained by simplistic homage.

3 stars (Good Enough) It's a beautiful movie, for certain. And a compelling build on an American-favorite urban legend. And Rinko Kikuchi is stunning in this. But despite all of that, I can't think of a compelling reason to watch this movie. ~Pop&Coffee
