Macbeth
Synopsis: Michael Fassbender is the fatally ambitious Scottish general in this visceral rendition of Shakespeare's tragedy from the Australian director of SNOWTOWN.
“Manages to be faithful to Shakespeare's gloriously evocative language while taking the play in a new visual direction, toward deep-red fire, brimstone, and Grand Guignol gore and savagery.”~Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly

4 stars (Very Good) The Scottish play breathes (gasps?) afresh under Kurzel's assured direction. An evocative score and beautifully downbeat cinematography work wonders but it's Fassbender and Cotillard's committed intensity that cuts deepest. Grim, gruelling, and grippin ~fairbrother
2 stars (Good Try) Couldn't make out much of what was said so it was hard to maintain an interest. The slow motion throat cutting was objectionable and unnecessary. Nice landscape photography. ~Tubbs
