Julieta
“It's no surprise that this is marvelous to look at, but it possesses just as much substance as style.”~Ann Hornaday, Washington Post
Aroview: The complexities of a woman's past are unraveled after a chance encounter, in this loose adaptation of three short stories by Alice Munro. More restrained than Almadovar's usual offerings, this nonetheless plays to his strengths as a female-centric, multi-layered and expertly suspenseful melodrama.

3 stars (Good Enough) Almadovar signature camerawork, design & colours. But the skills are not matched by the weak plot. Should we merely conclude that fishermen's wives must stay at home? Not showing Julieta's meeting with her adult daughter is unsatisfying. ~Sandy
2 stars (Good Try) It looks good but it doesn't achieve much more than that. ~Tubbs
