Pick of the Litter
Aroview: A compelling (even suspenseful) documentary about the surprisingly intensive process of training guide dogs for the blind.
The film follows quintuplet puppies who enter a rigorous two-year process that will take them from the care of selfless foster volunteers to specialised trainers - but only a chosen few have what it takes to settle as lifelong companions in service of the blind. The varying temperaments of the individual dogs provides generous material for the film-makers to frame a 'competitive' and entertaining narrative without eclipsing the human elements of the film.
