Eighth Grade
“Cognizant of all the new scary realities of growing up with an internet-connected camera on your person at all times, but it also finds hope in it, as, if nothing else, a tool for self-discovery.”~Emily Yoshida, New York Magazine (Vulture)
Aroview: Superb coming-of-age drama providing an unflinching glimpse into the experience of a 13-year-old girl striving to gain social acceptance in her final week of eighth grade (year eight). Bolstered by an incredibly natural performance from newcomer Elsie Fisher, who expertly embodies Gen-Z angst and the anxiety that social media and widespread smart phone use can cause in teenagers.
