Dissident, The
“This is a documentary both tragic and poignant, not to mention maddening in that only a few underlings, and not the perpetrators, will pay for the crime committed in Istanbul.”~Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter
Aroview: A documentary about Jamal Khashoggi, Washington Post journalist and dissident who was murdered by agents of the Saudi government while working in Istanbul.
Essentially a martyr for freedom of speech, Khashoggi worked tirelessly as a correspondent in Middle Eastern countries and supported progressive politics such as gender equality and non-violence in Saudi Arabia. His assassination occurred in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and initially covered up, but later revealed to be organised by Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. A terrifying but necessary exposé of political corruption.
