King and Country
Aroview: Earnest, expertly acted drama in which a detached army lawyer (Dirk Bogarde) attempts to defend a working-class deserter (Tom Courtenay) during WW1. Based on the stageplay by John Wilson, the moral dilemma was close to the exiled director's heart.

5 stars (Exceptional) In my book, this is one of the great anti-war films. It is also an excellent example of two actors, Courtenay and Bogarde, whilst working off each other, giving each other the necessary space. Stagey yes, but one for the working class. ~Tubbs
