Aroview: Drama set over a single 24 hours on a city block in Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

Describes a melting pot of gossip, jealousy, racism, adultery and murder during a summer heat wave. A bleak and explicit microcosm of urban life in depression era America, which surely would not have been possible to make after the enforcement of the 1934 Motion Picture Production Code. Shot almost entirely on a single gigantic studio set.
