Beyond a Reasonable Doubt
Aroview: This bleak film noir from director Fritz Lang is a triumph of style and mood with a cynical take on fate and the human condition.
An impeccably devised plot follows a novelist who conspires to frame himself for the murder of a burlesque dancer, to prove a point about the inadequacy of circumstantial evidence in capital punishment. But the plan goes awry when the person who agrees to reveal the set-up unexpectedly dies, and the evidence proving the novelist's innocence is destroyed.
