Alfresco (TV Series)

UK 1983-1984, 400 minutes
Dir. Stuart Orme
English
Genres: Television, Comedy

Synopsis: A comedy sketch show, intended as ITV's equivalent to Not The Nine O'Clock News, which was currently popular on BBC. Written by Ben Elton, with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie also receiving writing credits. Unusually for the time it was filmed on location instead of in studio, hence the title 'Alfresco'.

“The comedy's more off-the-wall than Elton's later work (some two-handers with Hugh Laurie are almost Boosh-like), and there's a joyful, post-Python 'anything goes' spirit.”~The Guardian
