Witness, The

Aroview: In a suitably grey version of Communist Hungary, A humble dike-keeper is arrested for butchering his family pig. It being a serious offense to acquire food without the knowledge of the government. Somehow he finds himself absurdlly failing upwards through the ranks of the paranoid dictatorship.

A stolid little comedy that hits its targets deliberately on the nose, after being banned for twenty years, it eventually became a beloved and oft-quoted cult classic in its native Hungary.
