Sleepers
Aroview: Based on a purportedly fact-based novel by Lorenzo Carcaterra, a disastrous prank lands four schoolboys in a borstal where they suffer ritualised sexual abuse.
Fifteen years later, a convoluted courtroom drama evolves after two of the victims engage in murderous retribution. Stellar cast fail to enliven the leaden, self-important storytelling or overcome the dubious assumption that the audience is rooting for this kind of 'justice'.

3 stars (Good Enough) A great novel that holds plenty of promise at the beginning of the film, this is a drama with plenty of raw emotion, even if it fails to ultimately satisfy. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) Admittedly courtroom scenes do tend to extend running times a bit but this one would have benefitted from being shorter. A good plot but one which would have had more impact when it was published in 1995. ~Tubbs
