Ashes and Diamonds

Aroview: Set on the day after WWII, the striking-looking Zbigniew Cybulski plays a Polish freedom fighter torn between wartime duties and peacetime celebrations. Masterfully fashioned film has the hallucinatory feel of another era, with flashes of surrealistic imagery (seems a big influence on Emir Kusturica). Part three of Dir. Wadja's War trilogy.
