Muriel's Wedding
Aroview: Crowd-pleasing suburban fairy tale replays the ugly duckling motif and kitsch comedy from STRICTLY BALLROOM, but gone is the modest charm - this was contrived to be a big hit. Toni Collette heads the grotesquerie of Ozzie stereotypes as the teenager who wishes life could be as great as an Abba Song. Premium popcorn, but not as good as 'Dancing Queen'.

4 stars (Very Good) The plain and plump Muriel longs to be popular, and lives in a fantasy world of ABBA songs and weddings. But after meeting her new best friend Rhonda, she begins to put those dreams into reality. Funny, but at times sad, journey of self-discovery. ~GenXGirl
2 stars (Good Try) The story takes quite a few dips but Toni Collette and Bill Hunter make it worth watching. ~Tubbs
