Aroview: Robin Wright strongly commits to the difficult role of a woman oddly reluctant to testify against her abusive ex-husband, despite pressure from lawyer William Hurt. Modelled like a European art film, this peculiar drama interrogates the nature of love, power and abuse in relationships with sporadic success. Though it bravely tackles masochistic themes, its wordy and introversive approach may prove an endurance test for all but the most dedicated psychology students.
