Enemy of the State
Aroview: Lawyer Will Smith unwittingly receives proof of a high-ranking assassination, and becomes not so much the enemy of the state as of white-collar nasty Jon Voight and his box of cutting-edge, super-tech surveillance toys.
With an arsenal of off-angles, speed-cuts, and sound-stabs, director Tony Scott zealously stages a round of in-your-face cat-and-mouse, rather distracting from the more serious, sinister implications in the material. Gene Hackman turns up late in the piece as an irascible tech veteran, but he's at least distinguished by a rather becoming no.1 haircut.

2 stars (Good Try) We needed more of Hackman and much less of Smith and the yapping dog. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) Enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. Gene Hackman and Will Smith compliment each other in this entertaining fast paced, cat-and-mouse drama. Clever knitting together of all the minor characters too. Definitely worth a watch. ~Square Eyes
