Pushing Tin

USA 1999, 99 minutes
Dir. Mike Newell
Rating: [M]
Genres: Comedy, Suspense/Crime

Topics: Aviation.

Aroview: The title is Air Traffic Controller jargon for getting all the jumbo-jets landing on time, and typifies the haywire humour of this workplace comedy set among the Long Island ground-crew, America's busiest. John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton play rival top-dog controllers, whose nerve-wracking style of 'navigation' also applies to the mess of their real lives. Indulges in a fair bit of macho posing, but there's enough quirky laughs to ensure a safe flight.
