Aroview: Sex, beer and co-dependency dominate this brazen, bleakly comic study of a doomed relationship between two afflicted souls (he with asthma, she with eczema) in sweltering Brisbane.
Based on Andrew McGahan's mostly-autobiographical novel, it finds its distinctly Australian voice somewhere between the raw realism of THE BOYS and the stylized melodrama of SWEETIE, hailing a strange and exquisite beauty and an uncommonly brave performance by Sacha Horler.

4 stars (Very Good) Grungy romance between two young allergy-prone Brisbanites. But when Cynthia moves into Gordons run-down flea-ridden squat, she proves to be physically draining and mentally dangerous to his health. Confronting, but worthwhile. ~GenXGirl
