Aroview: Britain's Aardman animation studio make the feature film leap with the aid of Hollywood and pull it off with wit and spirit in tact, while making great strides on the animated side. The homage to 'The Great Escape' will be lost on most, but this eco-friendly update about a band of chickens escaping battery-farm purgatory with the help of a heroic Rooster, makes for a plucking good yarn.
The characters too, are a perfect match to the vocal archetypes provided by Mel Gibson, Julia Sawalha, Miranda Richardson, Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall, Phil Daniels.

3 stars (Good Enough) Clever clay animation, set in 1950's England, tells the story of a band of chickens who seek escape from their coop on a sinister York's chicken farm. Smart and charming. ~GenXGirl
3 stars (Good Enough) The characters are cute enough, the animation is still charming, and it's still great fun for all the family, but this is not quite Wallace and Gromit. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) A simple if a not original story is enhanced by some delightful chicken characters. The animators are able to achieve some wonderful facial expressions, particularly through the character's eyes. ~Tubbs
