Aroview: Part fairy-tale comedy, part edgy thriller, this perhaps qualifies as the perfect date movie.

Due to the trauma of witnessing her husband’s murder, Kansas waitress Renee Zellweger becomes deluded that she is part of the ‘reality’ of a hospital soap-opera and heads out to L.A. in search of ‘ex-fiance’ Dr. Ravell. Meanwhile, she’s pursued by loose-cannon hitmen Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock, who chalk up the kind of chemistry that could give them a spin-off series. This sees dir. Neil La Bute ditching his usual misanthropy for some curious shades of irony, enjoyably mixed with satire and black-humour.

2 stars (Good Try) The story fails to maintain the interest but there is always Morgan Freeman and the never boring Allison Janney and Pruitt Taylor Vince in small parts to add some interest. ~Tubbs
