Aroview: Quiet desperation in suburbia and mis-communication in marriage interlink the lives of four Sydney-side couples, who become further entangled by a mysterious, untimely death.
Anthony LaPaglia leads the investigation and a stellar ensemble cast. It’s mature and rewarding viewing though perhaps too fragmented to be truly penetrating. Based on the stageplay, ‘Speaking in Tongues’. Winner of seven AFI awards, including Best Picture.

3 stars (Good Enough) Anthony, a cop with an unsteady marriage, investigates the disappearance of a noted therapist. Suspecting that her marriage to an academic was similarly troubled, he pursues the case as if his own marriage can be redeemed through it. Worthwhile. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) I saw this movie many years ago, but I still remember it. ~s36e175
2 stars (Good Try) The screenplay kicks in after an hour and a half and then goes missing again in favour of a crappy ending. ~Tubbs
