Placed against the civil-rights punch-ups of the 1960s, Ali is portrayed as a crucial, beleaguered figure, especially over his refusal to fight in Vietnam, yet despite Smith’s best efforts remains the enigmatic figure. Certainly not deserving of its mixed reputation, the occasional flat rounds are forgotten against the climactic fisticuff combats.

2 stars (Good Try) Unnecessary dramatisation of well documented events. As with "The Wrestler" the best bits are a look behind the scenes at the nuts and bolts of preparing for an event. ~Tubbs
