Aroview: Douglas Sirk’s strident Texas oil-dynasty drama about a pair of spoiled and wayward heirs to the family fortune and the straight-and-narrow outsiders caught up in their personal maelstrom. Time has slightly blunted its political skewer, but as an example of pulpy melodrama lacquered in high 50s style, this is as good as it gets.
