In Praise of Love
“Smart, subtle and deeply moving.” ~AroVideo
Aroview: Dir. Godard’s first major film in over a decade presents intellect and filmmaking in full-flight, while stubbornly refusing to provide a digestible storyline, breaking the experience into two quite disparate halves. The first section, shot in B&W, concerns the travails of a producer in Paris, teasing out the themes of his film (?); the second section, shot on video, capriciously tours the countryside of Brittany, pitting local culture and language against the incursions of Hollywood.
